England pulls out of Pakistan tour over security concerns

The Pakistan Cricket Board said on Monday that the English and Wales Cricket Board had pulled out of its tour which was scheduled to begin from 15 August to play a three test series and five white ball matches in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.

A PCB spokesman said that they had been informed by the ECB CEO Andy Griffith that the British government had not given clearance to the ECB to send the team because of some creditable information it had about a possible attack on the players in Karachi and Pindi.

“They claim their government has said these are real threats and they can’t risk sending their players in such an environment as safe and well being of English players is paramount to them.”
